Eco Secondary Glazing

Secondary Glazing is a very simple solution from Access Plastics which will dramatically improve the comfort of your home by eliminating draughts and hence, reducing the cost of heating bills. The secondary glazing solution can be done relatively cheaply, by yourself and without any special tools.

How does it work?

Acrylic perspex panels, which is clear like glass, can be fitted over existing single glazed windows using a magnetic self adhesive tape kit. The magnetic tape material is similar to the type of material used in fridge magnets and is made up of 2 parts – a brown magentic tape strip and a very thin white steel tape. Both have a strong adhesive on one side.

Quite simply, the white adhesive steel tape is stuck on to the existing window frame. The brown magetic tape is stuck on to the edge of the acrylic perspex panel. The panel is raised into place and the magnetic tape on the sheet sticks to the steel tape on the window frame.

What does it cost?

To give you a guideline price, a standard sheet of 3mm acrylic sheet which is 8ft X 4ft will cost €55.00 + Vat 21.5% This can be cut to any size (matching your windows) at no extra cost. The magnetic tape kit will cost €26.00 + Vat 21.5%

The magnetic tape kit includes both rolls of tape – the brown magnetic roll and the white steel tape roll. Dimensions on the roll are as follows: Length 15mtrs / Width 12mm / Height 1.2mm
